As it happened, I signed up with their DSL service after cancelling my Cox Cable.  The offer was really good, a free modem, a no contract monthly fee.  But the problem started when the day the service suppose to begin as it take me almost a month getting their DSL to work  (no credit back).  Because I have local telephone and DSL all in one line, a failure in one will fail the other as well.  I goes days without phone services when there are problem with their DSL lines.  I called CSR and they offer service men to come to fix it but it will fail a few months later.  The problems are so consistantly that I feel cheated because I did not get reimburse fully for all the days the services were not working.

Anyway, I switched back to Cox but also take the phone service with me.  Cox services were fine but there were problems as well but not as often as AT&T.  But one day, I got a phone call from AT&T offered me almost two hundred bucks if I switch back to their services: local and DSL.  I agreed, but carefully keep the Cox service just in case AT&T does not work and I have to pay for Cox’s reinstalling fee.  So a few days or week later, I found out they have cancelled my Cox phone service but yet their package and promotion did not yet arrive.  I have to called in and talked to them.  This time the promotion was reduced to $100, $50 for phone and $50 for DSL.  The DSL service have been boost to a high price plan.  A month later, the promotion materials arrived with terms that required me to remain in service with them until the rebate/reward process have finish.  So I wasted 2-3 months to get $50, in which I have to pay the monthly fee of the services of both companies (AT&T and Cox).  At the end I decided to cancel AT&T DSL  since it is less reliable than Cox but I kept the local phone service since it is a little bit better than Cox voip.  I think I have lost $25 and somebody will have to file tax on that promo at the end of the year.  Talked about messy and costly transaction.

Cox communication is a private company.  They are not publicly traded.  It is a family business that I highly respected.  But I suspected they may be a target for take over by one of these communication giants in the near future.

Like Buffett, I do not trust bankers but only in their busineses so I will only invest in preferred shares if I do have that much money.

Then you know people are getting more mobile and connected each year, the same with traders.  I see more and more hooligans gone mobile trading with Etrade.  Motorola is a cell phone company and communication device manuf.  Its stock drop 7% today, at 50% of 52 weeks high.  Wonderful thing about this company is the stock price, only $5.xx a piece, a price of a Subway footlong.  It is famous during the pager era.  Why? cheap, quality, and trendy products.

Today notable drop is Eastman Kodak.  This behemoth have a very basic old traditional operation and outlooks.  Unfortunately, the business have gone digital and the only chemical involved is the picture printing process. 

 Unfortunately, all three stocks lack dividends.  If you are long and wanted your capital to work for you, then these are not for you.  I wish I have alot of capital like you so I don’t have to labor.

I took the opportunities and purchase a few shares of some notable airlines, Southwest and Delta.  Southwest is the only airline to post profit, even in the time of expensive fuel price.  Delta just merged with Northwest and is now the largest airline in the States.  It also have manage to increase its market share.  I expect the industry to reap a profit this year as they have cut cost and capacity last year to dealt with expensive fuel.  Fuel is getting cheaper as recession take tolls on manufactured and industries.

*Update* already sold Southwest and took some small profit.  I will rebuy it because it is solid.  Delta is on hold.  I may have to buy to offset loss.  Window is at least one month.
